Picasa is a free program from Google that enables you to easily catalogue, edit and upload your images to free online albums. All club members are encouraged to set up their own personal Picasa Web Albums which will be linked on our

While Picasa is great for editing photos quickly, for the creation of free web albums, and for emailing photos to friends and colleagues, it is not the club's preferred option for editing and printing images. This honour goes to Adobe Lightroom.
Picasa is like a point-and-shoot camera set on automatic - it is easy to learn, easy to use and can produce acceptable results. Lightroom is like a full digital SLR - it has a steeper learning curve, but with more settings and more features it provides greater scope and control to editing and printing images, especially when dealing with RAW images.
Lightroom also enables changes to be made to multiple images at a time, unlike Picasa, and its slide show facility is vastly superior as well.
