The Bay and Basin Camera Club was formed in 2008 for photographers in the Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin areas of the Shoalhaven (south coast of NSW). We provide an informative, casual and friendly atmosphere in which members and potential members can improve and expand their photographic knowledge and horizons.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at the Huskisson Community Centre (see
Location). Visitors are welcome to attend any of our meetings. Each meeting is based around a "workshop" topic, and we endeavour to provide knowledgeable guest speakers as often as possible. At these meetings members submit their competition photographs for judging - by our guest speaker - or via popular vote.
We also hold a photo shoot on the 4th Sunday of the month. Subjects will vary, as will times and locations, so check our
program for details.
In our first couple of years we had two sections for our competitions - Open and Set Subject. As the names suggest, the Open competition was open to any photograph, while the Set Subject was a specific topic chosen by the committee and advertised up to a year in advance. In July 2010 a third competition was introduced - Creative - which was defined as a photo where the final print was significantly different from the original subject matter. This allowed for both in-camera image manipulation, and post production changes using Adobe Photoshop or something similar.
