2018 / 2019 BBCC Photo Comps - Print or Digital?
After a 12 month trial of alternating print and digital photo competitions each month, the membership was given the choice of continuing with the same format or going fully digital. 70% of the respondents (14 out of 20) voted for alternating the print and digital photo competitions each month, with 30% (6 out of 20) voting to go fully digital. No other choices were offered i.e. going back to fully print, or going mainly digital with a reduced number of printing nights each year.

PRINTS vs DIGITAL

With the demise of Picasa web albums due to an ill-considered decision by Google, the club has decided that Flickr is the online image storing and sharing solution best suited to our needs.
Flickr is an image and video hosting website, acquired by Yahoo in 2005. Users can store and share photos and videos on Flickr. Photos can be stored singly, in albums, or in collections; and they can be made public, private or just shared with friends.
Flickr has free accounts and paid accounts, but the free account is all that is needed. It is recommended for all BBCC members to become Flickr users, after which they can become a member of the BBCC Flickr group, where they can see and comment on the photos of other members, and share their own photos.
Flickr is as good as Picasa and better than Google Photos.

CHANGES FOR BAY and BASIN CAMERA CLUB
The Bay and Basin Camera club moved to a new location from July 2016. The club now meets at the Vincentia Community Hall located at the rear of Coles car park in Vincentia.
"This venue is more central for our membership and hopefully will encourage more folk from Sanctuary Point and the Basin area to join the club" advised Mary Furness, the former club President. "It is a great venue and suits the club's needs very well".
The second big change is that the club will meet twice a month instead of just once. The first meeting of the month will be the photo competition. The second meeting will be a learning workshop.
"We believe this will make our meeting less rushed and more social" said Mary. "Members meed time to ask questions and talk and having two meeting will help this to happen. The meeting will start at 7.30 and end about 9.30. No more late nights!"
The club looks forward to a good 2017 photographic year and invites anyone who want to join us to come to a meeting. Visitors are welcome to a meeting or two to see if they like it.
So meetings are now held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, February to December, 7:30pm to 9:30pm at the Vincentia Community Hall in the rear of the Coles carpark at Vincentia.
